Plants are a lime green color when grown indoors; color will change to a golden yellow when placed in full sun. Trim new growth to maintain shape if desired. Very popular plant in Europe

Your conifer was grown in partial shade in order to achieve the color and growth habit you see it with when purchased. Placing your plant in full sun will cause it to change color and possibly its 'leaf' shape. You may plant your topiary into the ground as long as there is no fear of prolonged freezing. Indoors place your conifer in bright, indirect light, rotate it outdoors in partial shade as often as possible to keep it looking healthy, although it will do quite well indoors for several months or more. Dry air-conditioned or heated air may harm the plant.

Fertilization of your topiary may be needed once or twice a year. To keep the leaves looking healthy, periodically rinse the leaves with soapy water to remove debris and keep pests away. To maintain the shape of your topiary, new growth may be trimmed.

Your topiary will need to be repotted every two years to keep it from becoming root-bound. Remove the plant from its pot and gently loosen the root ball. Plant it in a container at least 1 to 2" larger. Add additional soil to fill in the space. Water immediately and maintain the moistness until the plant has taken root in the new space.
